Camp Dogwood Summer Academy is the heart of the AnBryce Foundation, offering a unique blend of academic enrichment—including reading, writing, leadership, and STEM topics—and traditional camp activities like swimming, art, and sports. The program is built on a foundation of character development, with a low 1:3 counselor-to-camper ratio that ensures personal attention, mentorship, and staff modeling of the core values known as the 4 C's. Over the years, the experience has expanded to a three-tier model that guides youth from elementary-aged campers to camp leaders.

The Camp Dogwood program is grounded in the 4 C's: Courtesy, Cooperation, Caring, and Concern. These values shape daily interactions and expectations, encouraging campers to take ownership of their actions and treat peers, staff, and the community with respect.
Designed for rising 10th-12th graders, these programs help students learn to lead, collaborate, and embrace challenges—skills that carry into school and life. They serve as a leadership continuum for older teens to continue their journey after Camp Dogwood.

Rites of Passage (ROP):
A wilderness challenge program that pushes students out of their comfort zones. The curriculum includes a five-day backpacking trip in the Shenandoah mountains, fostering resilience and teamwork.

Staff Training Enrichment Program (STEP)
A three-tiered leadership development program often taken by ROP graduates. STEP participants receive advanced training to prepare them for future roles as camp leaders and counselors.
Transportation is provided by charter bus from Arlington, Virginia and Madison, Virginia. Families are not allowed to bring/pick-up from Camp Dogwood. Families must pick-up campers in Madison, Virginia if campers are dismissed/need to leave early.
All applicants must complete an online application and participate in a formal interview. Two references are required and checked before an offer is made. All hires must complete and pass a background check (annually if returning), including The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website.
See virtual camp tour.
All of the ROP leaders have Wilderness First Aid Responder or Wilderness First Aid certifications. The ROP coordinator must have more than three years of demonstrated experience coordinating wilderness expeditions.
All staff are trained for 10 days at the camp site. Professionals in their respective fields and full-time AnBryce staff provide training in first aid, CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator); and risk management; recognizing child abuse and responding to severe weather. Each staff member is provided the Camp Dogwood Operations Manual and reviews it in its entirety during staff training. Additional in-services are held throughout the camp season.
The water is provided by onsite wells and is analyzed annually by Culpeper Environmental Systems Service.
Students gain confidence, writing, problem-solving, leadership development, and independence.
